St. Patrick's Day on It's Playtime

Lot's of St. Patrick's activities were shared on It's Playtime last week.  Here are some of my favorites:
I love, love, love this activity from Gift of Curiosity!  Create your own Leprechaun Rocks then dissolve revealing a special surprise inside.  It's play, it's science, it's perfect for St. Patrick's Day!
Create a lovely Shamrock Sun Catcher like the ones over at Crystal & Co.  They used purchased shredded paper, but if you have a paper shredder of your own, run some colored construction paper through it.

It's So Easy, It's Playtime!

Welcome to the weekly It's Playtime link party!  This week I'm featuring two simple ideas for play with items I'm sure you all have laying around the house.  So check out the features, join in the fun, and browse our linky for your next super fun play or art idea.

If you don't have TP laying around the house, well then, you're in more trouble then entertaining a bored preschooler.  Mess for Less shares their towering math game brought to you by Charmin or the TP of your choice.

How about Q-tips and a Colander ?  If you have those two items then you have some simple fine motor play shared by our friends at Fantastic Fun & Learning.

Ok, after looking over this post, I swear I didn't share these two play ideas just to promote my Amazon account.  I really didn't!  But if you really want to buy a colander, well then, by all means, you should!  If you don't have TP, then I suggest running to the store because you shouldn't wait two days for Amazon to ship it to you.

If you were featured this week, don't forget to grab your special "featured button."

Math Fun on It's Playtime!

I never enjoyed math much.  I always managed good marks in the subject but I simply didn't like numbers.  Maybe if I'd been introduced to math through activities like these, posted on It's Playtime, I would have excelled.

Maro's Kindergarten shared two fun activities last week: Winter Play with Numbers (picture above) and Penguin and Fishes Number Game.

Have a bunch of Pom Poms you don't know what to do with?  Check out Math & More with Pom Poms!! from Preschool Powol Packets.  Included are some fine motor skill and exploration activities.

For older kids, head over to An Idea on Tuesday for their Maths Fun games centered around a die you can make yourself.

It's Playtime: Old Concepts, New Tricks

I love when I find a new way to use an old concept don't you?  So often we come across the same old thing all over the interent and while it may be a good idea (thus everybody doing it), sometimes it's nice to go, "Oh wow!  Why didn't I think of that?  I do that activity all the time and if only I had changed it ever so slightly...."  You get my point, right?  That's what's going on this week on It's Playtime!

Looking at this picture from Play Create Explore you might think, "oh, that's cloud dough," but not quite.  This Fluffy Stuff is a slightly different recipe.  Use it and create your own summer snowball fight!

At this point I think we all know what a water wall is, right?  Why not take the same concept and create a bead/ball run like the Russian blogger from The World of My Dreams...Lizon.org did?  She used plastic bottles to create a Rotating Ball Game, fun for grown-ups and kids alike.

Puddles are for jumping and it can be fun to create Art in the Rain, but why not use some dried Tempura and create some Rainbow Puddles?  This fun idea from Play Create Explore will have your kids excited to mix some colors and create outdoor art.
