It's Playtime: Toddler Time

Being pregnant, I'm thinking about all the wonderful activities I'll be able to do with my baby and toddler. Activities I missed with my son because I was working full time and my daughter because, well, the internet wasn't what it is now 9 years ago.  So this week on It's Playtime I'm featuring 3 easy toddler activities for you and your little one to enjoy.

You and your toddler will enjoy some outdoor time with this Find a Fish game from famiglia&seoul.
Get 5 minutes of rest with this simple Colander and Pipe Cleaners activity shared by Healthymama Info.  More pipe cleaner activities can be found in her post.

Water and sponges, what could be simpler play for a curious toddler?  Shared by Mama Mia's Heart 2 Heart.

It's Playtime: Easy Peasy

I'm tired.  I'm pregnant, and I'm tired.  Today we went pretend camping at the park with my son's preschool class.  We went on a nature hike, the kids played in tents, they played on the playground, we picnicked, it was nice.  Then we came home and had a play date at our house.  I made dinner, now I'm here.  Doesn't seem like a lot, but, I'm tired.  So this week on It's Playtime, in honor of those women who are pregnant and tired, with little energy to clean up paint, toys, and lego pieces, I give you 3 mindless activities that just may give you 5 minutes of rest.

What could be easier then Transferring Spoons?  Healthymama Info explains the benefits of this project.

For the child who loves art, but you don't want all the work of planning something,  Learn with Play @ Home shared their Hole Punch Art.

Do you have some styrofoam bowls laying around?  Putti Prapancha shared Stack, Build, Smash, and Play with Styrofoam Bowls.  This could possibly give you 1/2 hour or more of free time!

It's Playtime: Fairy Fun

Fairies are a fantastic way to introduce your child to gardening.  In San Diego, several local gardens hold annual Fairy Festivals to celebrate flowers and planting season.  We attend one (that's FREE!) every year that encourages young children to enter small fairy gardens into a contest which attendees can vote upon.  But fairy gardens at home are easy too.  A little imagination and some outdoor time, and your little one can create their own fairy home.  Check out some of these ideas for fairy fun shared last week on It's Playtime.

Paint Cut Paste shared their Fairy Herb Garden and also how to create Fairy Houses with Natural Materials.

Visiting a fairy festival this year?  Why not pack some Fairy Wand Fruit Kebabs (created by Here Come the Girls) to take on your picnic?  Also a great snack after an exciting day of creating fairy gardens .

My Magical Menagerie used and old basket to create their New Fairy Garden.

Fairies love flowers so why not attract them with Flower Petal Sun Catchers like those created by For the Children.

It's Playtime: Slimy Creatures

Every day in my house, we have bugs.  We have beetles, pincher bugs, rollie pollies, and of course, snails. This week on It's Playtime: a tribute to the slimy creatures that capture our children's curiosity.

Our snails would love this beautiful Snail Garden created at StrongStart.  I love how the kids helped in the designing as well as the creation.  Perfect for preschool, homeschool, or just for fun!

Primary Learning Log has put together an entire theme (preschool, homeschool, etc) surrounding Worms.  Check it out for great ideas for art, sensory, math, and much more.  Who doesn't love worms?

It's Playtime: Body Fun

It's Playtime and Messy Kids isn't just about art and play.  We also want to promote healthy body awareness through play and activities.  Who says exercise, balance, and the body can't be fun?
Learners in Bloom shared how to have Yoga Fun with Preschoolers with the help of some lovely yoga pose cards from Barefoot Books.  I used these cards when I taught preschool and they are great!  The kids loved the many animal names and balance activities.

Teach Joy in the Body with some simple activities from Enjoying the Journey.

Don't have any Yoga pose cards?  Check out this kid friendly yoga video posted by Healthymamainfo.
