Fun Product Review: My Feeding Friend

I love blogging.  I haven't done enough lately considering how tired I've been during my pregnancy, not to mention driving my kids around to school, parent participation preschool, art class, and play dates.  But this wonderful product review for My Feeding Friend, a grow-with-me nursing pillow, was handed to me and I couldn't pass it up.  It was cute, relevant to my upcoming delivery (any moment now), and just plain fun.  Not to mention that it promotes play from birth!  How cool is that?  Let me show you...

As my bun is still cooking in my oven (a little longer then expected at the moment), and my other children are beyond nursing, I sought out one of my best friends to help me.  She's not only nursing but has a 1 year old; a great combination for showing the grow-with-me side of this breast feeding support pillow.  Above is her youngest, born this past July.  Look how happy she is playing with the tiger!
Her 1 year old moves fast, like a 1 year old should, so trying to capture her enjoying the nursing pillow was difficult.  Right away, she was enchanted by the giant tiger.  If you were a kid, wouldn't you be?  I mean, it's a big tiger and it's soft!  Incredibly soft!  My daughter got on the floor with her and they played with the tiger.  It was great for sitting on!

When it was time to nurse, my friend was able to check out the benefits of this adorable breastfeeding support pillow.  It was a hot day and one of my biggest concerns was the comfort level of fur next to skin.  Surprisingly, mom and baby didn't change in temperature.
The nursing pillow fit nicely across my friend's lap, hugging and supporting baby while she fed.  With My Feeding Friend, nursing can be comfortable and fun!  I'm excited to use it myself.

My Feeding Friend comes in 4 adorable animals: Monkey, Turtle, Dalmatian, and Tiger.  Each animal is designed with comfort in mind; super soft fur and the perfect length for complete nursing support.  The grow-with-me features include tummy time support, bedtime friend, and a soft place for resting little tooshies.  And of course, imaginative play is encouraged as the child grows.  I love the versatility this nursing pillow offers.  So much more then the traditional breastfeeding support pillow which, I know from experience, ends up in storage after about the first year.  Thanks to My Feeding Friend, my new addition will have her first friend right from the start.

It's Playtime: Make Your Own Fun

It's DIY time again at It's Playtime proving that making your own fun can be just as good, if not better, then the real thing!
Kinder Days created this cute Play Treehouse from an old plant stand and some natural wood elements.  The perfect home for little critters, fairies, or gnomes!

How about these great DIY Bean Bags from My Little Princess World?  No sewing involved!  Plus the beans and rice inside are reused from an old sensory project.  Add some foam stickers and buttons and these bean bags double as sensory bags!

Are your daughter's dolls looking for some new, high fashion clothing?  Check out the latest Foil Fashion trend from Let Kids Create.  Bring out your child's inner fashion designer and allow her to decorate the foil herself.  And don't worry, her doll won't need a bigger closet; this clothing folds and fits nicely inside a recycled egg carton.

Have a great DIY idea?  Don't forget to link it up!

It's Playtime: Old Toys, New Play

So we all know how quickly kids loose interest in some toys.  Even toys they have begged and begged for, waiting for months until their birthdays/Christmas/etc. when it finally becomes theirs, and they play with it for 10 minutes, maybe a week, and toss it aside with the rest of their discarded treasures.  It's frustrating to say the least.  But instead of sticking it the back of the closet or adding it to the "donate" pile, try looking at that toy from a different perspective.  How can it be played with differently?  Can it be taken outside?  What would happen if you added dirt or water?  How about combining it with another, unexpected toy or something else that has been discarded?  Sometimes old toys simply need a make-over.

At last week's It's Playtime play date I came across several postings which I felt reflected this Old to New theme.  I hope they inspire you to find new ways to play with old toys.

HappyLittleMesses found this great castle at the dump!  They decided to scrub it down, Making things new again, and added some wooden train tracks, creating a different way to play with both toys!

So I look at this picture from Lighting Bug Literacy: They've Taken Over! and realize, I too have a ton of little bugs, snakes, frogs, etc lying around my house.  I add them sensory tables and encourage bug hunts, but I never thought to stick them in the bath!  Foam sheets can often be purchased at the $1 store.  What a  great bath time activity!

Cars, animals, wooden road signs, leaves; this Sand Tray Play from Picklebums gave new life to a lot of old toys.  I love the penguin in the tupperware pool!  If you are lucky enough to have a sand pit/box in your back yard, this is a great idea for that as well.

I also encourage you to check out Cars + Crayons by Fumbling Through Parenthoood.  It's reminiscent of my Remote Control Art without the remote control aspect.  Unfortunately, I was unable to grab a photo from their blog in order to feature them.
